The Swiss Army Suit: One Herringbone, More Ways to Wear It

A good suit can do more than serve a single occasion. Choose the cloth and details with versatility in mind, and its pieces can become valuable parts of a much larger wardrobe.

A herringbone suit is a fine example. Worn together, the jacket and trousers offer a complete tailored look. Worn separately, the jacket can bring character to a pair of jeans or other trousers. Add the vest, and there is another way to wear the same cloth.

The point is not to make every suit do everything. Some cloths and designs lend themselves naturally to being worn as separates; others look best together. The choice depends on your work, travel, occasions and the clothing you already own.

At PATTON, we begin with those questions. We consider how a garment will be worn, where it will go and how it will work with the rest of your wardrobe—before making the choices together.

The most expensive garment you own is the one you don’t wear. A thoughtful wardrobe gives you more ways to enjoy what you already have.
